Kalkan

Kalkan has a very high opinion of itself and this place is special. Once a thriving Greek fishing village called Kalamaki, it became Kalkan in 1920s and devoted itself to up-market tourism with great effect.Somehow it has not ruined itself in the process. It helps that Kalkan is set in the most breath-taking, glorious bay, with a backdrop of the magnificent Taurus mountains. The compact old town historic, charming and atmospheric and crammed with a huge array of smart bars and restaurants, many of which are on the roof with wanderfull views and ambience. Then there is the Picture perfect harbour, bobbing with Turkish wooden gulets and little fishing boats. The norrow limestone streets are lined with whitewashed buildins adorned with balconies overflowing with brilliantly coloured bougainvillea. Like any good host, Kalkan takes great pride in its appearance and warm hospitality.

It’s easy to see why many people fall in lave with Kalkan, historical seaside town on Turkey’s gorgeous Lycian Cost. Kalkan was once a fishing village, its main industry is now top-end tourism. This is the home of the luxery villa rather then the all inclusive deal.
